I have a backyard pool and we enjoy sharing with friends. I can now point out kids who wore puddle jumpers! They don’t use their arms and try to swim upright. They eventually learn, but it takes a long time to break that muscle memory. I’ve pulled 4 kids out of my pool. Thankfully I’m a hawk and all have been fine. One four-year-old was asked what happened after he was pulled from the deep end, “I forgot I didn’t have on my life jacket”. Thankfully a friend told me the dangers of puddle jumpers and none of my four kids ever wore one. They are all swimmers now.
