We had a very close call after having taken off my 3-yr-old’s puddle jumper so she could have a snack and eat on the pool deck. She got back into the pool without it on, unnoticed by myself and 3 other adults who were all within 10-15 yards of proximity but were all a little distracted. She moved into water over her head. She was struggling for a couple of minutes before someone finally noticed her pushing off the bottom of the pool and gasping for a breath, her mouth barely able to reach the surface before slipping under again. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me as a parent and a real wake-up call. I pray for all those who lost their dear babies to a drowning event.
