I used one with my middle. She went into a vertical position. Now she swims better and better every time we take her to the pool. My son thankfully hated the puddle jumper. He still goes vertical in his float, but will go horizontal when he wears himself out. We have tried to get him out of that habit. He prefers swimming more than the floating.
