My incident happening is why I started really looking at what to do differently. At the time of the incident, I had 4 kids 3 and under. My 3-year-old wore a puddle jumper. We took a lunch break poolside (public pool) and I took the jumper off so he could eat. The next thing I knew I heard a lifeguard whistle and I turned around to see what could only be my 3-year-old being pulled out of the water. He was RIGHT there with me seconds before. I was just opening up plastic wear from home with our lunch in it. It scared me to death because I thought I watched them so well, especially around water.

When I asked him what on earth did he think he was doing, he said he could swim with his frog on (puddle jumper) so he figured he could without it on too.
