Tosha Poynor

w year old boy wearing floaties and green goggles.

July 5th 2009, my 2 1/2yr of nephew Michael drowned in my parents pool. We didn’t know by using arm floaties with him that we were giving him a false confidence in the water. he thought he could swim and he was not afraid of the water. We allowed him to jump from the ladder all the time. I can still to this day imagine him climbing up the ladder without his floaties and jumping in. His little shoes were sitting beside the ladder when his mom found him. Since then I have been and will FOREVER be an advocate for water safety. A large piece of my heart still hurts.
